Portfolio Manager

James E.D. Stuart

James Stuart founded Stuart Investment Management the week of Black Monday, October 1987 in the wake of precipitous stock market declines. Unshaken in his belief in value investing, Jim had faith in his innate ability to pick stocks that were unjustifiably cheap, based on their intrinsic value with the goal of preserving and growing wealth. Born 1920, Jim is a graduate of Upper Canada College, and The University of Toronto. He is a decorated World War II veteran, having served on Navy frigates tasked with destroying German submarines. Prior to founding Stuart Investment Management Jim was partner and senior vice president at Cassels Blaikie & Co.
Well into his eighties, Jim continues daily to come to the office in Toronto’s financial district, and still enjoys a glass of scotch at the close of the markets each day with his colleagues and clients.
